Everything is calculated based on the player position: temperature, wind, clothing/item decay, and cabin fever. I'm assuming what you cleared was cabin fever risk since you wouldn't be able to sleep or pass time in the hut if you actually had cabin fever. 29

(TIP: You can light a fire ontop of or under the hood of the car to keep it protected from most angles of the wind. It also keeps you warm inside the car!)
